A beautiful home built 25 years ago resplendent in what I like to call “the oak movement”, with amazing architectural details and stunning grounds, this home had the most amazing presence. It also had a lot of oak, oak and more oak, finished in the dark brownish reds of that time. Walking into the house and meeting the original homeowners was such an inspiring experience, a family raised, grandchildren born and now…time to pass the family home to the next generation. We wanted to modernize the home but still honour it’s traditional roots. We started with re-imagining the oak panelling, trim and doors with a beautiful creamy colour lacquer. The floors were refinished with a hint of grey undertone, not a note of red to be found. The fireplaces were updated with marble herringbone tile and all the brass was taken away. Every light fixture in the house was updated with chrome and crystal, and a distressed chandelier was added for warmth. Every hinge and door handle was replaced with an updated nickel glow. Refinishing a traditional oak dining table to a more modern distressed black added a final touch inside. Outside, a new entrance, garage doors and beautiful fixtures completed the transformation. You have got to see the before pictures at the end of the photos to understand the amazing transformation. This home and working with it’s owners was the most amazing journey and I am honoured to have helped bring this beautiful home to light
